Wizo EDM Tool Ltd., based out of Brampton, Ontario, is a machine shop that builds injection-molding components for equipment manufacturers.

As business began to grow, Wizo realized that the existing systems were no longer able to support their needs. According to Dave Yandt, Operations Manager for Wizo, “There were discrepancies between the shop floor and the books. We also needed a better tool to manage our orders and production.”

Wizo did a thorough search for an ERP solution, and selected to implement the VISUAL system in November 2002. “We selected VISUAL because overall it was the best package. Coming from a previous California based solution, we were really determined to find something that offered strong local support. We were very impressed with the size and talent of the Shop 9000 support group.” says Dave.

“The implementation was fast, and exceptional.” says Dave “We had an aggressive schedule, and we were able to implement the system within our six week target.”

In order to fast track the implementation process, Dave relied heavily on the expertise available at Shop 9000. Dave Yandt was very pleased with the level of service. “Our manufacturing consultant, Mark Dalrymple, was second to none. He was quick to determine what parts of the plan to put forth, and only what was necessary to get us 'up and running'. He answered all of our questions immediately, and when he did have action items to complete, they were always delivered within 12 hours. He took a 'hands on' approach to training, which really forced us to learn the programs, and at the end of each day, he provided great notes, with action items clearly identified. In the 15 years I have been in this business, I have never had someone of this caliber. He was fantastic!”

For Wizo, the biggest benefit since implementing VISUAL is Order Tracking. “When a customer calls we can tell them immediately, where their order is on the shop floor, and when they'll receive it, and that is what our customers really want to know.” concludes Dave. "
